Orch Game! Big/Little Social

As summer rapidly approaches, there’s no better way to close out the school year than with a Big/Little social! Arcadia High School (AHS) Orchestra program Bigs and Littles did just that during lunch on Thursday, May 29, by participating in the last Big/Little Social of the year: Orch Game! The social was based on the iconic South Korean series Squid Game, featuring thrilling, high-stakes activities straight from the show (but this time with a lot more snacks).

Similar to the original series, Orch Game had Big/Little pairs team up for various tasks in order to avoid being eliminated. The first game was Red Light, Green Light, but with a surprising twist: Big/Little pairs had to link arms and each hop on one foot! This made for a challenge, as pairs had to rely on each other and work together to make it across the finish line without being eliminated.

Next up was carving dalgona, a Korean candy made out of melted sugar and baking soda, which was another activity straight from Squid Game. This time, pairs had to work together to carve out a randomly given shape—a circle, triangle, star, or, most notoriously, an umbrella—without breaking the delicate, sugary treat. This proved to be harder than it looked, as many dalgona ended up breaking. Nevertheless, Bigs and Littles had fun challenging their precision and ability to work under pressure in this test of teamwork!

Although some pairs did end up being eliminated, everyone had a blast making fond memories with their Big or Little. As the last social before summer, Orch Game certainly ended a great school year on a high note!
