First Big/Little Social!

Students eagerly piled into the orchestra room on Sept. 9 for a one-of-a-kind Big/Little social hosted by Orchestra Council as an introductory activity that fostered new bonds, lots of laughter, and many fun games! Bigs, returning members of orchestra, were paired with a Little, a new member of the orchestra community for an afternoon of entertainment and delicious food.

The social began with an icebreaker between Bigs and Littles, followed by the first game: Common Ground. Each pair must find a hobby that both enjoy, then find other pairs with that same hobby. The first pairs to find those similar hobbies would receive a yummy prize of candy! Through this activity, musicians were able to learn more about one another while adding a competitive flare to the game. 

The next game is one very well known: Wavelength. One person from the Big/Little pair would look at the number projected on the screen, then give clues based on prompts that would allow the other pair to guess the correct answer. This game was definitely a crowd favorite, as pairs kept asking for round after round to be played, even if it went to overtime.

Orchestra socials are always a great way to meet new people, form new friendships, and relax amidst the difficult school year.
