Freshman cellist Celina Wang has been chosen as the February Student of the Month. Let’s put our hands together for our hardworking and charismatic section leader!

Celina first began her musical journey back when she was just six years old. She started with piano, then began playing cello when she was nine years old. She started cello because of her elementary orchestra, and she chose cello because her sister already played violin, and she didn’t want to repeat the same instrument.
She has many hobbies, one of them being reading. Her favorite genre of books includes horror, murder mystery, and Sci-Fi. One of her favorites is “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” by Holly Jackson.
Another one of her hobbies is volleyball. Celina plays as a setter for the school team and also the volleyball club Crown City. Playing as a setter requires great skill and leadership to lead the team to win the game, and she has brought this leadership into the orchestra, too!
As Principal Cello, Celina leads her section with pride, focus, and the kind of quiet leadership that earns respect from her fellow classmates. She always knows her music inside and out, asks questions often, and always makes sure everyone in her section understands before she moves on. When someone is struggling, she makes sure to break it down so everyone understands before moving on.
“Music is a great way to connect with people and make new friends,” Celina said. She has made many new friends since joining the orchestra back in fourth grade. Some of her favorite memories from orchestra include the November socials and the Disney trip.
Once again, let’s put our hands together for this February’s SOTM, Celina Wang!
