Fall Social 2025

The highly anticipated Fall Social took place after school on Nov. 12! As the final bell rang, students filed into the music room for an afternoon full of festivities and amazing home-cooked food. With all orchestra levels together, the room bustled with excitement while music blasted from speakers. Orchestra Council members were hard at work, serving the countless students food as they rushed to get in line, including mashed potatoes, chicken, mac and cheese, gravy, chips, and soda. Students would like to thank sophomores Jonathan Leung and Derek Wang for preparing all the delicious food for the social!

As people from different grades mingled, the first activity–make your own cookie–began! Each student was given a plain cookie, which they then decorated with different colored frosting and sprinkles. As they ate, students also posed at the photo booth with friends, with Ms. Chen occasionally appearing in various photos!

Next, a sheet of paper was passed out to each person as they competed to see who could make and throw a paper airplane the farthest. These planes flew everywhere in the orchestra room as students tested their designs, launching a couple behind the stacks of chairs and often narrowly missing fellow competitors. Finally, the challenge commenced in the courtyard, and freshman Nathan Chang took home the prize for his team!

The last event of the day was pumpkin bowling. Students threw fake pumpkins to knock over turkeys (taped onto water bottles) to try and beat the other teams. People cheered as they competed head on for the victory. Unique strategies emerged, with some throwing the traditional bowling style, others overhand throwing, and some even using basketball shots! Meanwhile, students also made thank you cards for each other, continued decorating cookies, and helped themselves to second rounds of food.  Laughter filled the room as the event drew to a close, promising much more food and festivities for students in the future.

This November’s Fall Social was a spectacular success! Great food, competitive games, and funny photos helped bring the orchestra community closer together, strengthening the camaraderie between our high school’s brilliant musicians. If you had fun, make sure to continue attending all of our orchestra’s events in the future and mark your calendars for Movie Night in January!
